"Hello", My name is John S. Collins. I would like to thank you ahead of time for
viewing my web page. I hope you find the information easy to navigate
and informative to your needs.
I began Drafting back at Greer High School as the School Stage Manager. I was
elected to this for 2 years
designing prop's and decorations for Concerts, Dramas and Beauty Pageants. My Dad taught
Mechanical Drawing and Shop a few years before my Freshman year.
After
College Graduation
I began working professionally for A. Dale Gilliland, Architect, in 1995 as an
AutoCAD Draftsman. In my 11 years with Mr.
Gilliland, I became the Project Manager for the Seneca Baptist Church new
Educational and Sanctuary. Other projects I played a role with were: The
Waccamaw Bank Home Office, Carolina Shores Town Hall and Maintenance Buildings,
Fountainside Assisted Living Center, and an Anderson College Dormitory among
other projects. I was also the Office Manager, Computer Manager, and AutoCAD
technician for his 3 to 4 man office.
By 2005 I had completed several residential projects outside of the office and
realized my passion for being in control of a project from beginning to end;
"Control" meaning from client relationships to Building Code Approval, and to
Construction Inspection. My clients are spending their hard earned money and
should be given the courtesy of a designer who pays attention to their ideas and
wishes with experience to transfer these wishes into suitable Construction
Documents. Construction Documents both Clear to the Client and the Contractor.
Keep in mind, your "Drawings" represent a binding contract with your contractor
and if there is any "gray area", the Contractor will be more experienced to get
the better end of the deal.
JCADS began full time in the
spring of 2006 with one computer and one client. Today JCADS has grown to
support 2 or 3 ongoing projects simultaneously. We have support staff here in
the upstate as well as along the South Carolina Coastal area. I work from a
home office, therefore I come to you with meetings and consultations. This day
and age, Computer Transmission creates an "on the spot" review to speed up
the
review and approval process.
I have been an active member
of the Greenville Technical College Architectural Advisory Committee since 1997,
and am currently the chairman. The Committee is made of Industry leaders who
make recommendations for steering the Architectural Engineering program at
"Greenville Tech" to the current needs of our community. We also recommend and
approve higher educational opportunities for both technical students and the
construction Industry. Current Building Code Updates, and Product selection and
advancement are the focus of these higher educational programs.
Christ is the center of my life and I hope that his reflection is conveyed to all those who I influence.
